A 30-year-old Zambian man drowned after a canoe he was travelling in capsized in the Simisune Channel near Libula village in the Zambezi region on Saturday morning.
This was confirmed on Sunday afternoon by national police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi in the weekend crime report.
Shikwambi says the deceased has been identified as Nambula Saboya.
“It is further alleged that the deceased and his two friends were crossing the river channel with a canoe from Kalimbeza village to Libula village.
“In the process, the canoe capsized and the two friends managed to swim out. His next of kin were informed,” Shikwambi says.
