A man (37) was admitted to the Oshakati State Hospital on Friday after allegedly being mistaken for a criminal and attacked at Ongwediva.
The man was walking from Mykonos towards Mbelle Flats in the early hours of Friday morning, from where he intended to hitchhike to Oshakati.
According to a crime report he found himself approached by a suspicious looking group of men upon which he sought refuge within the Mbelle flat building. There he began knocking on doors in search of help.
The report states the Namibian man was allegedly “ assaulted with a tonfer, a knobkerrie, fists and kicked all over his body by two suspects, a male age 42 and a female age 52”.
The suspects are alleged to have had the impression that he had entered the building to commit a crime.
The suspects were released on bail and are expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
