Man arrested over teen’s rape at Omusati

An Angolan national (22) has been arrested in connection with the rape of a teenager (14) at Outundungu village in the Omusati region.

This has been confirmed by Omusati regional commander commissioner Ismael Basson, who says the incident took place on Friday.

Basson says the suspect, who is the victim’s neighbour, allegedly met the girl while on her way home and told her to follow him, pretending he would help her fetch her mother’s belongings.

“Upon arrival at the suspect’s house . . . he raped her,” Basson says.

The suspect has been arrested and formally charged, and is to appear before the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
