Man arrested for suspected stock theft

Police in the Oshikoto region have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly stealing seven head of cattle worth N$70 000.

The theft, according to the police, happened at Okambuwa village in the region between April last year and this month on unknown dates and times.

“The owner of the cattle left them under the care of the suspect, who is a relative to her late husband. When she returned, she realised that all the cattle were nowhere in sight. And when he was questioned, he refused to account for the missing cattle, as a result, he was arrested and charged with stock theft,” said the Oshikoto regional police commander, commissioner Theopoline Kalompo-Nashikaku.

The suspect will appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Nothing has been recovered and police investigations continue.
