A 55-year-old Rehoboth resident died in an accident on Friday after the Ford Bantam bakkie he was travelling in veered off the road and overturned.
According to police spokesperson, chief inspector Elifas Kuwinga, the driver lost control of the vehicle during a tyre burst.
The bakkie was carrying 10 passengers.
Kuwinga said all the injured passengers were admitted to hospital, while a test had proven that the driver was intoxicated.
“An additional charge of driving under influence of alcohol was added and the driver was detained after being discharged from hospital,” he said. Investigations continue.
