Mafia leads Khomas Darts League

The Khomas Region Darts League has reached the halfway mark, with the Mafia 1 club top of the nine-team standings.

The 16-point singles match league started on 21 February and concludes on 26 June. It boasts some national team stars like Franklin Moller, Sacky Mwahaluka and Annelize van Brakel.

Played across various venues in Windhoek every Wednesday evening, teams consist of female, male and junior players.

Ahead of this week’s round matches, Mafia 1 leads the log with 24 points on the board, followed by the Rustic team (22 points) and the City of Windhoek (20 points).

In the latest action, Mafia 1 continued its dominance of the league as they beat the Mafia 3 team 15-1. In the other results, Mafia 2 beat Corner Pub 10-6 and the City of Windhoek beat the DC 2 team 11-5. Rustic team won 9-7 against the DC 1 team, while the DC 3 team had a bye.

This left the rest of the standings as follows: Mafia 2 (4th) DC 1 (5th), Corner Pub (6th), DC 2 (7th), Mafia 3 (8th) and DC 3 (9th).

The league also tracks individual player statistics, and Mafia 1 team’s Marius Steenkamp and Jan Holloway lead the way with 30 and 27 wins, respectively.

Rustic team’s 17-year old Marlo van Zyl is tied in third place with Mafia 1’s Van Brakel on 23 wins so far. The highest close so far is by City of Windhoek’s Moller with 158.

The league is open to Khomas region players and any darts player wishing to participate.
