The Livestock and Livestock Products Board of Namibia (LLPBN) has appointed Vehaka Tjimune as its new chief executive.
He took up the position yesterday.
Tjimune has more than 37 years’ experience in Namibia and the Southern African Development Community region’s agriculture and food sectors.
He has worked at the government, producer organisations, the private sector and international development institutions.
Tjimune holds a master’s degree from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.
His experience covers agricultural policy, livestock development, governance, corporate strategy, institutional reform, stakeholder engagement and change management.
Most recently, Tjimune served as senior policy adviser for agriculture and land at German development agency GIZ.
In this role, he provided policy and institutional support to Namibia’s agriculture and food sector.
Before joining GIZ, Tjimune worked at the Namibia National Farmers Union and Meat Corporation of Namibia.
He held leadership positions in livestock procurement, producer services, stakeholder management and corporate affairs.
Livestock and Livestock Products Board chairperson Lucia Hamutenya says Tjimune’s experience would help the board carry out its mandate.
“The board is confident that Mr Tjimune’s extensive experience, strategic vision and collaborative leadership style will further strengthen the LLPBN’s mandate of promoting, regulating, and developing Namibia’s livestock and livestock products industry, while advancing sustainable growth, innovation, and value creation for the benefit of all stakeholders,” he says.
