TOP Namibian fashion designer Georgina ‘Foxy’ Kandjeke and the queen of rap Latoya ‘Lioness’ Mwoombola are releasing a collaboration clothing line under the Foxxy by FoxyGinnah fashion brand called Lioness x Foxxy.
If the teaser images are anything to go by, this is going to be one hell of a xxx.
“The line has eight pieces and I feel there’s something for every girl in there. These are easy and ready to wear items that can be styled and paired to create many looks.
“They’re the kind of clothes you can post more than once on your instagram,” says Kandjeke.
She says the choice to work with Lioness came naturally for the two of them.
“I think we chose each other. We’ve been speaking about it for a while and our schedules kept clashing. Until we finally got a chance to sit down and our visions were so in-synch that it was such an easy collaboration,” says Kandjeke.
From choosing the colours, to the photo shoot and the styling, the growing designer who closed off 2019s Windhoek Fashion Week says working with the rapper was ‘such a breeze’ due to Lioness’ stellar work ethic.
It was at that event where one can say the collaboration truly began. It had the ‘Tala’ singer strutting her stuff down the catwalk in a ‘Foxxy’ original item, with a mic in her hand, combining her musical performance with a runway walk most models would envy.
And this is not Lioness’ first time venturing into the fashion world.
In May 2019, clothing brand ‘Synedgy’ by Simeone Johannes released the well-received Cilq x Synedgy line with the artist who doubles as a doctor. As someone who was involved in the general look and feel of Lioness x Foxxy, she says that working with such brands is her way of making a name for herself in the fashion world.
“At some point I will venture into fashion. This is me trying it out with different artists from Windhoek so I establish myself in the industry and learn a few things.” said the rapper.
“I think we should have more of these crossover collaborations because this is how we support and uplift each other in our respective professions,” says Kandjeke who elaborated that the spring line will have items for women who like to dress up and those who like to dress down but still look amazing doing it.
“The line is very small but diverse. My two favourite pieces are the Tala Jumpsuit and the Dreams Dress, named after some of Lioness’ hit songs. The colours are just so vibrant! We have pinks, yellows and nudes. Colours that are definitely fit for the season,” concludes Kandjeke.
The line will be launched this Friday, but giveaways are plenty on the fashion line’s social media pages through the week.
