NAMIBIAN gem Charmy Kurz, known popularly as Kurzca, continues to make big moves, with her featuring on American musician DJ Bamboozle’s newest release ‘Take My Time’ and her grabbing the attention of famous American basketball player Lebron James, who posted the track on his Instagram stories.
The artist expressed gratitude and awe at what she’s managing to accomplish with her career so far.
“I feel blessed that people like Lebron James are posting my song. I’m grateful for everything. I come from a small town of 3 000 people, so for someone so influential … to do that was very motivating,” she said.
The song, which dropped late on Wednesday, was recorded in Los Angeles with the LA Lakers official disc jockey and received props from other members of the basketball team as well.
It is a dance track, with her sensual vocals and showcasing the work of the DJ, who is known in his country for putting out upbeat and fun tracks.
Kurzca is currently on an extended work stay in LA, after recording her single and video ‘Body Talk’ in the Dominican Republic and jetting off to Atlanta in the United States.
“I’m just going to keep it going and keep making Namibia known,” she said, referring to the slogan of her music label RTE Records, which she signed with last year.
The young artist’s most popular track ‘Dat Is Good’ has reached close to 200 000 views and she previously shared on her Instagram a conversation between herself and international rapper and TV producer 50 Cent, over a song of his that she sampled featuring South African musician Costa Titch.
RTE Records CEO and founder Ennio Hamutenya, who is abroad with the artist, said he is proud of her achievements in the short time they have been working together.
“We’ve been in the States for a month now. All I can say is that the Namibian music industry will never be the same after this. I’ve been so impressed with her level of professionalism and work ethic, she’s ready to take over the world and lead the way for Namibian musicians,” he said.
