WINDHOEK – Brave Warriors Captain Ronald Ketjijere and Brave Gladiators Captain Uerikondjera Kasaona have resigned as first and second vice president of the Namibia Football Players Union (NAFPU) with immediate effect.
This was confirmed by NAFPU Secretary General, Olsen Kahiriri on Saturday at a media briefing.
“We received their letters of resignation last week and we have accepted their resignations, but we have written back to them asking for the reasons why they resigned,” he said.
He said they were elected by the players and it is only fair that the players are given the reasons why they decided to resign.
Speaking to Nampa via telephone, Ketjijere confirmed his resignation and receipt of an email from NAFPU asking him for the reasons for his resignation, but refused to divulge them to Nampa.
“I will respond to NAFPU first and they can them make the reasons public. It would be unfair and unprofessional for me to give you my reasons before I give them to NAFPU,” Ketjijere said.
Kasaona said she has informed NAFPU of her reasons already.
“They know my reasons for leaving the organisation; I told them,” she said.
Kahiriri stated that the resignation of the two will not affected the operations of the union, noting that all trade unions go through such difficulties.
He applauded the contribution of the two to the union, stating that within the short period of time they were involved with the union, their contribution has been immense.
“They played a big role in formulating various policies which we did not have as an organisation. They were part of the formulation of the strategic plan as well, so we as NAFPU would like to thank them for their massive contribution to our organisation,” added Kahiriri.
He explained that the two will remain ordinary members of the union. – Nampa
