A 36-year-old man is expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed and killed a 21-year-old man.
Police crime investigations coordinator for the ||Kharas region, deputy commissioner Nicodemus Mbango on Friday said the deceased was identified as Max Plaatjies.
The alleged stabbing took place at around 21h30 at Jika Jika supermarket at the Tseiblaagte residential area at the southern town.
It is alleged that the suspect and the deceased had an argument over a beer that belonged to the suspect, after which the suspect then allegedly pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the deceased on the left side of the neck.
“The deceased then walked approximately 100 metres away from the crime scene in the direction of Tseiblaagte, where he fell down on the tarred road after losing a lot of blood and was declared dead on the spot,” added Mbango.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
