BLACK Africa Football Club chairman Kandas Paulino says Ronnie Kanalelo will serve as both coach and technical director of Black Africa in the interim, after the resignation of Bobby Samaria as head coach of the side on Monday.
Paulino confirmed to The Namibian Sport yesterday that Kanalelo, who was appointed as the technical director of the side early last month, will double as head coach. Samaria, who had Otto Landsberg as his assistant, handed in his resignation on Monday, saying that it was a “career-motivated” move.Paulino denied that Samaria jumped ship because of a duplication of responsibilities, as Kanalelo repeatedly overshadowed Samaria by shouting instructions to players from the bench.”We introduced a new playing system and Kanalelo wanted to make sure that the players understand it.He had to do this by being on the bench and giving instructions when necessary,” Paulino said.Paulino said they will look for a replacement in the near future, but his executive committee still has to decide on what procedures to follow.Samaria has in the meantime been confirmed as the new caretaker coach of Tigers until the end of the season in May.Tigers chairman Kelly Asser confirmed that Samaria will take the Donkerhoek side until the end of the season, with an option of being appointed permanently “if he produces the desired results.”Samaria, who had Otto Landsberg as his assistant, handed in his resignation on Monday, saying that it was a “career-motivated” move.Paulino denied that Samaria jumped ship because of a duplication of responsibilities, as Kanalelo repeatedly overshadowed Samaria by shouting instructions to players from the bench.”We introduced a new playing system and Kanalelo wanted to make sure that the players understand it.He had to do this by being on the bench and giving instructions when necessary,” Paulino said.Paulino said they will look for a replacement in the near future, but his executive committee still has to decide on what procedures to follow.Samaria has in the meantime been confirmed as the new caretaker coach of Tigers until the end of the season in May.Tigers chairman Kelly Asser confirmed that Samaria will take the Donkerhoek side until the end of the season, with an option of being appointed permanently “if he produces the desired results.”
