POWER party president Evilastus Kaaronda has abandoned his party to join the South West Africa National Union (Swanu).
Kaaronda, who is also the president of the Namibia National Labour Organisation (Nanlo), confirmed his move to Swanu.
Swanu president Tangeni Iijambo told that Kaaronda joined the party last month and was appointed as its interim secretary general this month, until he is confirmed by Swanu’s central committee.
“In our party the president has the prerogative to appoint and it remains interim until we have a central committee meeting in three months’ time, where he and other positions in the politburo are going to be confirmed,” said Iijambo.
Kaaronda previously served as secretary general of the Swapo-affiliated National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW).
