Just Fabulous, darling!

Just Fabulous, darling!

AFTER 13 weeks of gruelling exercise and unpalatable food, Desiree Nanuses was announced as the ‘Just Fabulous’ winner.

The announcement was made by Dikaios Multi-well and Slimming Salon owner Adel Oosthuizen at the swanky ‘Just Fabulous’ finale, held at the Windhoek Country Club on Friday night. All seven contestants made major self-improvements during the show but Desiree impressed the panel of judges with her bubbly personality and her 12-kilogram weight loss. ‘It’s been amazing watching the contestants progress over the last couple of weeks and to have had an opportunity to witness their trials and tribulations and how they have managed to overcome their hurdles. These contestants will walk away with a life-changing experience and lifelong lessons learned. They can teach others everything they have been taught,’ said one of the judges, Patricia Pickering, who represented Bank Windhoek. The aim of the 13-week makeover programme was to educate the contestants, and Namibians in general, about the importance of eating well, exercising and making the best of themselves. After receiving expert advice from a slew of experts, Desiree experienced tremendous growth on a personal level.’I got to know the real me and to be at peace with myself. I learned that once you have made a commitment, you need to apply a lot of discipline and see it through, regardless of your circumstances or surroundings. I always found it easy to work hard at what I enjoy, but I had to teach myself to also make things work even if it is hard.’I found the occupational therapy sessions with Liesel Vermaak most helpful. Through ‘Just Fabulous’ I also learned that the first step to improving your life is to be honest with yourself. You must acknowledge the areas you need help with and be grown up enough to ask or look for help. I managed to come up with a concrete plan to realise my dreams,’ she said.Desiree walks away with the use of a Hyundai i10 for a year, petrol from Shell for a year, a bank account containing N$5 000 from Bank Windhoek, a fridge worth N$4000 from Home Corporation, monthly family meals for a year from Nando’s and skincare and beauty products from Willa Krause.
