JTL Beukes Primary School at Rehoboth held its annual clean-up campaign on Friday.
Alvaro Titus, a teacher, says the aim of the campaign is to promote environmental awareness and responsibility among pupils and staff.
He says the event will help to enhance the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the school environment.
“By hosting the event, we want to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Pupils must learn about the importance of hard work apart from their books. The day was fun as pupils were encouraged to participate and foster a sense of shared responsibility for school cleanliness,” Titus says.
He says pupils and staff were all happy and eager to clean the school yard.
“I noticed some of the pupils don’t know how to clean a yard, so they gained new knowledge. This year’s campaign was a success, so we are looking forward to host it next year,” Titus says.
Grade 7 pupil Henrisha Van Wyk says the campaign fostered a sense of teamwork among pupils.
“Our school is the best at Rehoboth and it felt great to help build the school more. I enjoyed seeing how pupils came together and worked hard,” Van Wyk says.
