VIENNA – Austrian writer and poet Elfriede Jelinek said she was surprised and honoured by the 2004 Nobel Literature Prize she won yesterday but was too ill to go to Sweden to receive it.
She told Swedish radio that to her the prize was “surprising and a great honour,” the Austrian news agency APA reported.
