Series lovers have matured over the years, with dedicated fans constantly keeping up with their favourite shows and big stars, traditionally lending their talents to the big screen, cashing in on the resurgent popularity of television.
However, some people are not so loyal and opt to jump ship for more popular series. And with this sudden movement, ratings go down for the once popular series and television bosses are forced to cut off production. With winter almost upon us, many shows will not be spared. Take a look at the following list of some of our faves which have reached the end of their lifespan.
Who can forget the moment Detective Catherine Chandler fell in love with the ever so attractive Vincent Keller? After saving her, they faced challenges because of who he was, but she stood by him through any and everything. And let’s not forget Catherine’s deceptive father who turned the situation into a mess. Ah, we will surely miss the crime stopping team on our screens.
After eight seasons of following the crime solving life of novelist Richard Castle and his partner Detective Kate Beckett, it is time to say farewell. For those who have followed the series, you would know the struggles the couple had to overcome in order to solve the murders and still maintain a positive and healthy relationship. Unfortunately, viewers were no longer interested in their story and the series had to go.
‘CSI’ is one of the series that have withstood the axe for a long time. After 15 years, it is sad to say that the beloved show is coming to an end. For those who have watched ‘CSI’ from a young age, many were inspired to solve murders and become detectives, albeit only for an hour. It was always interesting trying to figure out who did it. Along with the veteran series, its spawn ‘CSI: Cyber’ is also coming to an end soon.
Guess the good ones don’t always win. It’s time to say farewell to ‘The Good Wife’, a series much loved by those who were interested in politics, law and social media. Now, Alicia Florrick will have a better life somewhere else. It seems the show has never been the same since Will Gardner (played by Josh Charles) died in season five. That courtroom was never the same. And from there, things went downhill. But not all hope is lost. Word has it that there might be a spin off of the show.
Despite a desire from the higher ups to recreate ‘Heroes’ and continue the legacy of evolved humans around the world, viewers weren’t nearly as captured by the show as previously thought. Although we might have been fascinated by the Petrelli brothers and Hiro Nakamura, among other major characters, maybe it was best to let ‘Heroes’ simmer into a classic.
Despite John Reese’s rocky relationship with his billionaire boss Harold Finch, the two slowly but surely teamed up in peace to wage a battle against The Machine alongside NYPD officers Detective Joss Carter (played by Taraji P Henson) and Lionel Fusco. And romance between Reese and Carter was a blow when a horrible death crushed everyone’s heart. But Sameen Shaw’s (Sarah Shahi) permanent role soothed our hearts a little bit. And learning incredible computer terminology made it even better, delving into what it would be like if artificial intelligence went rogue. Indeed, what a battle it was.
Sadly, the following series also did not make the cut:
‘Switched At Birth’, ‘Marvel’s Agent Carter, ‘Bordertown’, ‘Minority Report’, ‘The Mysteries of Laura’, ‘Awkward’, ‘Dominion’,’Hemlock Grove’, ‘Key Peele’, ‘Rizzoli and Isles’, ‘Mythbusters’, ‘Mike Molly’ and ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’.
