Is AME Bankrupt?

Is AME Bankrupt?

THE following questions go to the school management of AME Community School in Gibeon and particularly to the financial Manager, Mr S J Witbooi, and his signatories.

Before and after independence millions of dollars were pumped into sustaining the school in all its endeavours. What happened to these funds apart from running costs? What about the investments for the school? Are there no investments? What happened to donations from Unicef in the form of materials like beds, tables and other things which was also meant for the poor of the poorest in the community of Gibeon? What is the purpose of the currently empty and unused wooden classrooms next to the school which were used by learners over the years for immoral purposes? What happened to the Auto Mechanic division and its assets? What happened to the weaving project and its assets? What happened to the needlework project and its assets? Why does the school owe hundreds of dollars for local services such as water and electricity according to the school community? Why did the financial manager not pay these accounts before and after Independence? This is an embarrassment for the school, which was created with good intentions. The financial Manager is also a Local Councillor. Is this not conflict of interest? What does Swapo say about this? We as stakeholders must demand an investigation into the financial matters of the school. We must demand transparency.Self-enrichment must not be tolerated as it was in the past.I want to hear from other stakeholders, former learners, parents and sympathisers.Let us debate and find solutions.Ex-learner GibeonWhat happened to these funds apart from running costs?
