Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) Walvis Bay Rural constituency councillor Tegako Donatus has been suspended by his party.
This is due to ongoing investigations into alleged unauthorised purchases.
The purchases in question were allegedly for the Erongo Regional Council’s account. Donatus is the chairperson of the Erongo Regional Council.
IPC regional chairperson Aloisius Kangulu confirmed the suspension on Sunday.
“I do not know the details of what will happen now in terms of the vacated position. But I can confirm that the party moved to restrain the councillor to preserve good governance and to allow investigations to be conducted unhindered,” he said on Sunday.
The matter is currently being investigated by the police.
