The formal bail application of Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital intern doctor Dennis Noa has been postponed to 8 and 11 September after the defence requested more time to consult with the accused.
Noa, who is facing a charge of allegedly sexually assaulting a man, appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
His legal representative, Bianca Boois, told the court the defence was not in a position to proceed because she had not yet had an opportunity to take instructions from her client.
Boois also requested that the court record be corrected to reflect Noa’s current place of detention.
“The court indicates that the place of detention is Ondangwa, but since his first court appearance, Noa has been detained at Omuthiya, which creates challenges in terms of consultation. The court record should, therefore, reflect that he is detained at Omuthiya,” she said.
State prosecutor Aina Mwaala informed the court that police investigations are still ongoing.
She said some witness statements have yet to be obtained and the photo plan has not been completed and filed.
Magistrate Nelao Ya France postponed the matter to 8 and 11 September, when Noa’s formal bail application is expected to be heard.
