Kelly Fortuin’s dramatic save in last week’s Idols Results Show put extra pressure on the Top 8 this week as it meant that two of them had to leave on Tuesday night.
Before the tense build-up to contestants finding out who would sing their last note on the show, the Idols first enjoyed a master class in performance from this week’s celebrity guest judge, American R’n’B, Jazz and Gospel star, Chanté Moore.And then it was down to business – Freddie was not on stage tonight, he was in hospital for surgery on his broken cheekbone. But Freddie’s absence didn’t affect the results.Idols host ProVerb divided the seven other Idols into three groups: Mark, Kelly and Erin in one group on the stage with him, and Dave, Dené and Crushanda in another. Lefa and Freddie, Pro announced, had received enough votes to be out of contention.After another song from Chanté Moore, Pro announced that one contestant from each group would be loving, and he asked the Idols judges who they thought would be leaving from the first group: Mark, Erin or Kelly.Gareth said none of them deserved to go but he thought it would be Kelly. Unathi agreed with him, but Randall correctly predicted that it would be Erin. The second group was comprised of Dené, Crushanda and Dave. Gareth thought it would be goodbye for Crushanda. Unathi said ‘unfortunately’ it might be Dave and once again it was Randall who was spot-on with his prediction: it was Dené.So now there are six Idols left to strut their stuff with the Idols dancers in this week’s Top 6 Spectacular. – Idols Season 7 is broadcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic every Sunday at 17h30.
