Namibian gymnast Tyesha Humphries says she represented the ‘Land of The Brave’ with all her heart at her first-ever Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Humphries on social media says representing the country has been an unforgettable experience.
“The country where I was born, alongside such an incredible team. I couldn’t be prouder of every single one of us.
“It wasn’t the competition we had hoped for, and mistakes happened, but we kept our heads high and gave everything we had to represent Namibia with pride, heart, and determination,” she says.
Humphries also thanks her mother for her support.
“To my mum , my first and biggest supporter, always: Thank you for believing in me before anyone else did. When I told you I wanted to leave ballet, jazz, swimming classes and rhythmic gymnastics and switch to artistic gymnastics, you smiled and said ‘this is your last sport’.
“Somehow, we both knew it was the right one.
“Thank you for standing by me through every challenge, every setback, every achievement, every injury and every dream.”
She adds that her mother “manifested” her accomplishment “long before I even realised it”.
Humphries thanked the Namibia Gymnastics Federation for believing in the athletes and giving the gymnasts the opportunity to represent Namibia at one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
