The Oshana region scooped second prize, followed by the Khomas region.

The best hospital pharmacy award was won by the Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital, with Oshakati Intermediate Hospital in second place and the Swakopmund District Hospital in third.

The most improved hospital was the Grootfontein District Hospital and the most improved region was Hardap.

The awards were handed over by health and social services executive director Ben Nangombe and deputy minister Esther Muinjangue.

“The good news is that we have hard working and committed staff members, assistant pharmacists, pharmacists and managers serving at our facilities across the country and managing our systems at districts, regions and national levels. There are many bright sparks, rays of hope across this pharmaceutical constellation,” said Nangombe.

“Your exemplary efforts are a testament to your dedication and do not go unnoticed. Let these achievements serve as both recognition of your hard work and as motivation for every facility to aspire to the highest standards in delivering quality services to the Namibian population,” said Muinjangue.

She added that by leveraging the collective expertise and commitment of all stakeholders, challenges facing pharmaceutical services can be overcome to ensure that every Namibian has access to high-quality healthcare.”

The week-long workshop is being attended by public and private sector stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry.
