The Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) has announced the appointment of Ndinelao Shikemeni as the new tourism executive officer.
According to a statement issued by the association on Thursday, Shikemeni will be based in Windhoek and will work closely with HAN chief executive officer Gitta Paetzold, and the HAN executive committee.
“Together, we are committed to pursuing our mission forward and developing tourism in Namibia,” says the statement.
“This year, we’re eager to highlight the incredible value that tourism brings to our beautiful country and communities, as well as to showcase its essential role in supporting our industry,” HAN says.
Shikemeni holds a master’s degree in tourism and hospitality management from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
According to the statement, she has worked with the Ideas, Weg and Getaway Magazine, as well as other tourism organisations in Cape Town.
She has held various positions at Gondwana Collection Namibia, including as marketing content developer, media coordinator, product marketing manager and diversity marketing manager.
“She serves as an external moderator for two modules in the bachelor of tourism innovation and development programme at the Namibia University of Technology,” HAN says.
The statement sayd the new appointment will help HAN step into 2025 with a fresh outlook and motto ‘Why Tourism Matter’.
“This year, we’re eager to highlight the incredible value tourism brings to our beautiful country and communities, as well as to showcase its essential role in supporting our industry,” says HAN.
