Government to increase S&T for civil servants

The Office of the Prime Minister has announced an increase in the daily subsistence and travel (S&T) allowance of civil servants effective 1 April.

Executive director in the Office of the Prime Minister, I-Ben Nashandi, made the announcement on Monday, saying the rates have been reviewed. Although Nashandi did not go into details regarding the extent to which S&T will increase, he added that maternity benefits are also under review.

He made this announcement during the official opening ceremony of the office’s week-long annual planning workshop currently underway at Swakopmund.

“The plans we are crafting are the answers to the plight of our people. We must bring about change needed, and transform the way government responds speedily to needs of our people. Anything that does not transform, is short of a plan, and it is called ‘laissez-faire’ – which is business as usual. And business as usual is a past,” he said.

Nashandi called on all public servants to not only embrace the new reviews but work smart, and embrace new innovation and technology to help the incoming government achieve its mandate and drive the realisation of Vision 2030.
