Gondwana, NCCI partner to boost inclusive growth

Gondwana Collection Namibia has partnered with the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) to strengthen private sector collaboration and support inclusive economic growth across the country.

The announcement was made during the NCCI’s corporate breakfast held in Windhoek on Tuesday, which brought together government representatives, business leaders and policymakers to discuss ways of improving cooperation between the public and private sectors.

As part of the partnership, Gondwana sponsored a vehicle to support the NCCI’s outreach and enterprise engagement programmes. The vehicle will help the chamber expand its impact in rural and urban areas, connecting more emerging businesses and entrepreneurs to national development initiatives.

“Tourism and enterprise development are twin pillars of Namibia’s economic future,” Gondwana managing director Gys Joubert said at the event.

“Through this partnership, we are reaffirming our commitment to helping the NCCI connect, empower and represent businesses across all regions.”

The breakfast also featured a panel discussion themed ‘The Role of Private Sector Leadership in Building a Competitive and Resilient Namibia’, moderated by NCCI president Bisey /Uirab.

The discussion highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors, improved policy alignment, and innovative leadership to enhance Namibia’s competitiveness in regional and global markets.

NCCI chief executive Titus Nampala emphasised that inclusive economic growth depends on effective cooperation between the government and industry.

“A clear and consistent policy environment is essential if we are to raise Namibia’s competitiveness and attract sustainable investment,” Nampala said.

“This kind of collaboration sets the tone for how public and private sectors can jointly deliver inclusive growth.”

The partnership is expected to support the NCCI’s ongoing grassroots engagement programme, which aims to amplify the voice of Namibian businesses at both regional and national levels.

It also aligns with Gondwana’s broader corporate social responsibility agenda focused on sustainability, empowerment and shared prosperity.

Also speaking the panel was Floris Bergh, chief economist at Capricorn Asset Management, who echoed similar sentiments, cementing that such partnerships are critical for creating a more resilient economy, particularly at a time when Namibia seeks to diversify growth beyond resource dependency. The collaboration between Gondwana and the NCCI is likely to benefit multiple industries – including tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, and services, by strengthening business linkages.

The event concluded with a collective commitment from attending stakeholders to develop a coordinated national strategy with accountability measures built into it, to create incentives for innovative solutions to various industry problems bringing together government ministries, state-owned enterprises, and private players to advance Namibia’s competitiveness.
