Ghanaian Promotes Namibia on YouTube

DEAR WODE MAYA, on behalf of the Namibian government and all the citizens of the republic of Namibia, I would like to thank you. Allow me to explain who Wode Maya is.

He is a decolonised advocate who shows the world an Africa which the media does not show.

Maya is a popular Ghanaian YouTube personality, vlogger and aeronautical engineer who studied at Shenyang Aerospace University in China, where he started his YouTube channel.

Most of his fans know him as ‘Mr Ghana Babe’.

Maya travels multiple African countries and then shares his experience of these countries and their culture.

He has been pleading with black Americans to return to Africa.

He has also interviewed many of those who have returned and are doing well.

He also interviews those who are uplifting Africa.

In one of his videos he interviewed Ousman Touray, a young Gambian who was awarded a scholarship to study abroad, but declined it to instead study in Rwanda.

Maya is also paying some Ghanian children’s school fees.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic he decided to visit Namibia without the fear of contracting the virus, despite Namibia being listed as one of the high-risk countries in the world.

Maya decided to set up a mobile clinic at one of the remote villages in our country.

He shared the beauty of Namibia, and showed why Namibian roads are considered some of the best on the continent.

Moreover, he showed us what some Namibians don’t know about their own country, for instance, the rituals and practices of the Himba people.

After visiting Swakopmund, he asked Africans why they would want to go to Dubai rather than coming to Namibia.

Videos of people like Maya attract tourists to the country.

Our Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism should make use of this.

We really need to thank this humble African son.

Namibians, subscribe to his YouTube channel, and share his videos.

I would also like to thank Namibian YouTubers, like The Woven, Secilia Namakasa, and other individuals who made sure Maya had a good time in our country.
