I AM referring to the issue of the traffic officers in Namibia at large. I experienced that they are not doing the job as it is expected of them. I’m referring to the followings concerns:
1. Since the formation of new political parties in Namibia it seems that we are not independent. Political parties rallies are too frequent and all political parties want to win this year election but it brings violence as well. The reason why I’m saying the law is set aside is that supporters of the ruling party are now placing the name Swapo on their vehicle number plates, and as a result traffic are not controlling and monitoring this so people are passing roadblocks without any warning or fine. What I know is that the plate number or registration number of a vehicle must be seen and if one wants a private number there are procedures to follow with NaTIS. Does this mean I can also put any illegal private number plates on my vehicle driving from Ruacana to Windhoek without getting a fine? 2. Trucks are being used to carry people to political rallies and are passing roadblocks without any warning of fines. What are the traffic officers doing at roadblocks if there is no law that authorises people to be carried in trucks? Some of these trucks usually carry sand and goods etc. Some of these illegal private numbers are also being placed on GRN vehicles so that you cannot recognise whether it is a GRN vehicle or private vehicle as the sticker on the door/s are covered with flags making difficult to control such a vehicle.I am therefore appealing to the responsible Ministry to take action against those who try to take the law into their own hands.Ngeno AmusheVia e-mail
