Getting Confident with Charmy Kurz

Not many Namibians can say they’ve been featured on major apps, but local fitness influencer Charmy Kurz is one of them. Thanks to her workouts and incredible physique, which she showcases on platforms such as Instagram, the Namibian-born model and singer secured a spot on the app Confident, which is known as the “world’s largest female-only fitness community”.

Featuring meal plans, workouts and other activities from top women in the fitness industry, you too can get your dream body by signing up for a weekly membership – and guess what? The first week is free.

Speaking to The Weekender, Kurz said the opportunity came about as the management from the app saw her posts on Instagram. “They asked me ‘do you want to make a fitness app?’ and I was so stunned. I’ve always wanted to be a part of something like that so I literally jumped at the opportunity when it came to me,” Kurz said.

“We discussed some ideas and everything I want my fans to see, and I wanted to make it personal for them when they got the app. We made sure that everything was there – the tips and tricks I use and the recipes I use like when it comes to my diet. We signed a contract and from there, we started the app!” Kurz said excitedly.

As for her workout schedule, it gets pretty intense: “Every day, for an hour and a half, I work out, full body. I never work out one day legs, etc. I do the whole thing every day. I make sure I get it done in the mornings so I can get done with the rest of my priorities. I do it very intense because if you do, you see the results faster and the results motivate me to get back in the gym.”

More Than Just An App

Cool, creative and current, Confident is a useful addition to your fitness apps. They customise a weekly workout plan that’s “tailored to your body type and physical needs”, a healthy eating plan to keep you feeling fit and, of course, an exercise routine.

Getting started is easy. You can either watch several stories or read articles on the importance of sleep exercises, unhealthy food habits, erasing acne scars and other lifestyle-related issues you might come across.

“The reason why I want girls to become more involved in Confident and become more involved in my programme is because I get messages every day from girls saying ‘you inspire me’ and I want them to have that level of confidence in themselves,” Kurz enthused. “I want them to change the way they see themselves. I want them to embrace their beauty and know they can achieve their goals if they just stay committed, consistent and determined. Not everything comes easy.”

Kurz mentioned that the app is personal and she is eager to be a part of her fans’ journeys. But what’s really interesting are the plans. For now, Kurz has two: The Brazilian booty and core abs.

With over 200 clients signed up under her programme, Kurz is certainly making progress in the fitness industry.

As for what keeps her going, she says her fans inspire her. “First thing I do is check my mails and my DMs because I love seeing all that positivity and love that comes from people I don’t even know. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t even be where I am today. I’m very grateful for my supporters, that they stand behind me throughout anything. I love them, they feel like family to me.”

Admitting that her self-confidence wasn’t always high and she was always “the girl in the background”, Kurz said her big dreams and determination pushed her. “I started working out and changing my habits. It wasn’t easy and it didn’t happen overnight. It takes time. Fitness really helped a lot because I started seeing results. It’s important to embrace self-love and once you get that, you feel unstoppable.”

Confident is only available on iOS.
