Bank of Namibia governor Johannes !Gawaxab will be leaving the bank a year before his tenure was due to end.
According to a statement issued by the central bank yesterday.
“The board of directors of the Bank of Namibia hereby announce the departure of Johannes !Gawaxab. His last day of service is 31 December 2025,” reads the statement.
!Gawaxab was appointed in 2020 by former president Hage Geingob. He was reappointed in 2022 for a five-year term.
