NAMIBIAN tweeps mainly did a happy skip, hop and jump down their timelines over US President Barack Obama being re-elected for another four years. Still, there were those armchair analysts and commentators who offered up their own particular views to contribute to a mixed tape of political beats and ‘offbeats’!

@TheAmazingTimo: So Swapo won in America today then? @Rage_GM: I don’t understand! Even people who do not care much about domestic politics are chanting Obama’s name. Huh? #humorous!@SwtNaa: Co-asks, those people look really happy, yoh! —> RT@Miss_Noms: Obama trending… How come we don’t get this excited about our elections?@Sirkandina: Wish Namibian elections can be as exciting as US elections. Not just calling each other ‘imperialists’ and oppositions taking ECN to court!@TracyGarises: Now it’s Obama this, Obama that… mense (people), I wonder if Americans also carry on like this if Pohamba wins elections in Namibia.@Albertinaitana: I still don’t see what’s in it for Namibians to campaign for Obama… and by the way you are campaigning among the wrong crowd.@burgesg: I don’t think Obama would have won without the boost he received for his response to Hurricane #Sandy.@KapanduH: The Namibian Electoral Commission will do well to learn from this: Election Results get released the same day, not a week after!!!!!@FmaleVrsion: Congrats Mr Obama… please follow our Presidential elections as the Namibians have been following yours. I KNOW YOU CAN.@mchacha9: I also really don’t understand how Obama is going to stop the corruption and improve the gap between the rich and poor in Namibia.@LarsShinyemba: (I)n general, we like supporting things and being happy about other countries’ achievements while we suffer.@ptmpaul: Am so glad the #2012 #US #Elections are over. My TV screen has been polluted with RED and BLUE states!!! It’s not been as inspiring as 2008!@Netmorris: Has Pohamba called Obama to congratulate him? Oops… MTC says his call is 110 countries in the queue and will be answered shortly.@LazJacobs: Will Obama’s speech sound as impressive in Oshindonga?Passing Shots@Uiisira: At least 9 bars in Eveline Street. —> RT @skididii: Who has PDK’s new album?@Frieda_va: Like Jokers really still charges entrance when they still have one-ply toilet paper? Not fair…@Lysiash: Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai’s ‘working together’ is like that of a golfer and his caddy.- Compiled by Jean Sutherland from twitter.com
