Fresh Flavours at Maca Maca Café

Spring has sprung, summer is well on its way, and in the spirit of embracing the warmer season confectionery maker Maca Maca Café has launched three new macaroon flavours that promise to leave you craving for more.

The lemon, blueberry and strawberry flavours were launched at a lavish tasting session in Windhoek last week, where guests got to experience first-hand what the warmer months would be ushering in with the brightly coloured, incredibly sweet and out of this world French pastries.

The aim of these new flavours is to keep fans of the popular dessert satiated, but without the heavier flavours that the team created when they launched in winter.

“Our summer flavour collection is meant to replace the warmer, nuttier and milk chocolate based flavours we carry. Red Velvet and Oreo are classics for Maca Maca, so they won’t go off the menu,” says chef Angelo Tilahun, who returned from studying at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris to found this online taste hub.

According to him, the flavours were chosen based on colours that represent fun and brighter days. They wanted macaroons that could blend in at any summer party, and are also currently working on perfecting their granadilla recipe to join the fruity lineup.

The macaroons are very beautiful at first glance. Their assortment of colours and their neat appearance makes them something you would definitely want to put in your mouth. With two crunchy layers enveloping a gooey filling, each delicacy packs a punch, with depth of flavour and a hearty texture that will leave you feeling like you’ve eaten more than you have.

On what sets the dessert brand apart from other confectionery makers, Maca Maca marketing manager Ndeshipanda Imbili says the incomparable skill of Tilahun and their other chef Martin Shipanga are the secret to their success, referring to them as highly educated and well travelled.

“Our chefs are top class and the excellence we bring to the table means that any recipe can be conquered, any flavour can be made and anything can be done, because those guys are just that good.”

Other flavours include Rooibos, Ferrero Rocher, Bar One, coffee, macadamia and crème brûlée. Orders are delivered straight to your doorstep.
