To most, the idea of creating a motivational non-fiction book seems like a fool’s errand that requires a bucket load of blood, sweat and tears with no product to show for it.
Because of this, most shy away from the prospect of publishing since this particular kind of market has yet to be established in Namibia and the possibility of attracting readers seems slim.
Using his past as an editor-in-chief of the business and inspirational magazine The Motivator and founder/president of the Divine Success Motivators Association, Franklin A Ohiozebau, or Ohio for short, overcame the odds and assembled a 202-page book aimed at motivating the downhearted.
Introducing ‘Analytical Motivational and Insightful Quotes for Achieving Success’, a guide to understanding the world from Ohiozebau’s point of view (with a hint of extensive research and detailed structuring of course).
The ‘recipe for success’ that Ohiozebau covers in the book may suit a wide audience ranging from the depressed teenager to a man in his 60s, but at first glance, the title and cover do not appeal to the younger generation at all. Overlooking that detail, Ohiozebau touches on core topics that kick the average reader out of a ‘dreamer’ mentality to a state where it is possible to achieve anything – should you choose to accept the advice given.
Said advice could be in question: Is this information credible? What experience does the author have to back up his explanations? How can he be sure his interpretations are correct?
Perhaps that is the beauty of this book – the reader can decide to follow what they feel is important and completely filter out the rest. Equally as pleasing is the presence of African quotes.
“I felt that I needed to add a voice in life and make an impact on the youth,” Ohiozebau said. “Most of the artists/authors aren’t alive but since analysing the book, I have realised that each quote is still relevant today.”
The idea did not spring up overnight.
Since high school, the author collected quotes nicknamed a ‘quote bank’ without knowing its true potential. In 2009, the manuscript was ready, but finding a publisher became a constant headache. Through e-mails and telephone calls, Ohiozebau got in touch with AuthorHouse UK Ltd whose operations run in the United States as well, and the rest, as they say, is history.
For those who are interested in buying a copy, you can find it online at amazon.com, the publisher’s website and the book marketing site: www.franklinohiobook.com.
