Four people were murdered in separate incidents across the country over the weekend, the Namibian Police have confirmed.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi on Monday evening said the killings took place between Friday and Sunday at Gochas, Katima Mulilo, Gobabis and Rehoboth.

At Gochas, Muammar Richter (33) died instantly after he was stabbed in the neck with a knife at Hei-Aib location around 15h00 on Friday.

Shikwambi said a 26-year-old suspect has been arrested and the murder weapon has not yet been recovered.

Richter’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.

At Katima Mulilo’s Lyambai location, Sitongo Mushwaulo (42) was stabbed to death at about 22h00 on Friday.

It is alleged that Mushwaulo was stabbed after hitting the suspect on the head with a bottle.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested. Mushwaulo’s next of kin were informed. Police investigations are ongoing.

At Gobabis, the body of Mojelaruri Deodene (28) was discovered by neighbours at Kanaan C location, Epako, on Saturday at around 08h00.

It is alleged that her boyfriend alerted neighbours after claiming he had returned from town to find her dead.

Shikwambi said preliminary investigations found fresh strangulation marks on her neck. A 20-year-old male suspect has been arrested. Deodene’s next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, at Rehoboth, Beraudt Resandt (32) died after being stabbed in the chest with a knife between 00h00 and 01h00 on Sunday at Block C.

It is alleged that the deceased and the suspect were with family members at the deceased’s house in Block F when an argument broke out.

The suspect allegedly returned home to Block C after being assaulted, and the deceased followed him, leading to a second altercation during which the stabbing occurred.

The murder weapon has not yet been recovered. Police investigations continue and the deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
