Five women raped over the weekend

A woman (30) was allegedly raped by her ex-boyfriend at Katutura on Friday.

This comes as police recorded five rape cases in different parts of the country over the weekend.

Police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi says the Katutura incident occurred on Friday, at around 09h05 at Reinhardt Mahekopo Street.

No arrest has been made and investigations continue.

At Otjiwarongo, another rape was reported on Saturday.

“The suspect threatened the victim with a pocket knife,” she says.

The suspect is on the run and police investigations are ongoing.

In a seperate rape incident, a girl (13) with disabilities was allegedly raped by a Namibian man (28) at around 13h00 at Oshihiindongo village in Onesi constituency.

“The suspect has been arrested and will appear before the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Monday,” Shikwambi says.

Moreover, a woman (42) was allegedly raped at around midnight at Ongwediva.

“The complainant was walking from Ohendjele Cuca Shop at Ohendjele village to her residence in Oshipumbu village and while on her way, she noticed an unknown person following her,” Shikwambi says.

The complainant allegedly screamed for help, but no assistance came as it was dark, and community members were asleep.

Lastly, on Saturday, at around 13h00 at Otjinandima flats at Omatjete, it is alleged that the male suspect allegedly raped a female victim (20).

“Police investigation continue and no arrest has been made,” Shikwambi says.
