THE Dorbabis police and Hoachanas police together with the Reservist from the area, in an undercover operation, arrested five people in connection with stock theft at farm Luene-burg in the Derm area around 20h00 on Wednesday.
Khomas regional commander Ismael Basson confirmed the arrest of the five suspects, among them a Namibian Police officer at Hoachanas police station.
According to Basson, 20 sheep carcases were recovered. The owner of the farm was absent at the time of the incident.
The arrests were made following a tip off by community members, who had spotted a blue Toyota Hilux 2.7 registration no. 1290 OH dropping off three people, believed to be poachers, in Derm area.
Basson said the operation also discovered a meat permit that had been completed by one of the suspects, a police officer, which was intended to facilitate the transportation of the meat to Windhoek.
All the suspects were arrested and detained at Derm police station.
The police investigations continue.
