Fish brings in N$4.2 billion in three months

In the third quarter of 2025 (July to September) Namibia generated N$4.2 billion through selling fish and fish products outside the country.

According to the Namibia Statistics Agency report, this was an increase when compared to the previous quarter.

“Fish products during the quarter under review registered export earnings of N$4.2 billion compared to N$3.6 billion recorded during the third quarter of 2024,” reads the report.

Meanwhile, the country imported fish products valued at N$175.0 million.

This an increase of 86.8% when compared to N$93.7 million recorded in the same quarter of 2024.

The total of quota species during the third quarter of 2025 amounted to 68 700 metric tonnes.

Hake recorded the highest landings of 40 005 metric tonnes, followed by horse mackerel in with 24 929 metric tonnes and in third place was monk, recording 2 823 metric tonnes.

The main export destination for fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates was Spain.

The main product that was exported to Spain was frozen fillets of hake.

The second and third top export destinations were Zambia and South Africa.
