First Runner-Up Albertina Haimbala to Represent Namibia at Miss Earth International 2024

The Miss Namibia Organisation (MNO) has announced a strategic adjustment in its international representation plan for the upcoming Miss Namibia 2024 pageant.

This decision comes in response to the Miss World Organisation’s (MWO) enforcement of a longstanding rule that only the national winner can participate in the Miss World Beauty Festival.

In a statement released by the MNO, it was revealed that Albertina Haimbala, the first runner-up of Miss Namibia 2023, will represent Namibia at the prestigious Miss Earth International 2024 beauty pageant.

This redirection follows the MWO’s firm decision, made at its annual National Directors’ meeting in Mumbai, India, during the 71st Miss World Beauty Festival, to adhere strictly to their rule, allowing only the national winner to compete.

The shift in strategy marks a departure from previous years’ approaches, where the MNO sent not only the winner but also the first and second runner-ups to represent Namibia at Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Earth respectively.

This adjustment means that only the national winner of Miss Namibia 2024 will have the opportunity to compete at Miss Universe 2024, scheduled to take place in Mexico in September 2024.

The first and second runner-ups will not represent Namibia on any international stage this year.

Chief executive of MNO Umbi Karuaihe-Upi emphasised the organisation’s commitment to providing opportunities for Namibian women to excel and showcase their talents on the global stage.

“Our aim is to create a stepping stone for Namibian youth and women to excel in their respective fields of interest and to prepare outstanding leaders for our country,” she said.

Reflecting on past achievements, the MNO celebrated the successes of previous titleholders, including Miss Namibia 2022 Cassia Sharpley, Miss Namibia First Runner-Up 2022 Leone van Jaarsveld, and Second Runner-Up 2022 Diana Andimba, among others.

These representatives showcased Namibia’s talent and beauty on the international stage, garnering accolades and recognition.
