Events to know about in February

WELL, well, well, it looks like you’re back to see what this week’s events have in store for you!
I have some exercise, some opera music, acting lessons, cooking workshops and soooo much more.

Today
Tonight is the final night of ‘The Audition’, in recital with singer Galilei Njembo and pianist Ebbie Becker at the Unam Space Theatre. This presentation will be a display of tenor virtuosity and an audition recording for Njembo to further his studies. Entry is N$70 in advance and N$100 at the door.

This Weekend
There’s an Edumove Run/Walk/Cycle taking place this Saturday in Academia. Entry fees are N$150 for adults, N$120 for pensioners, and children under 16 pay N$120. Proceeds will go to children in rural areas and informal settlements by providing essential school items such as school shoes, school uniforms, bags, and related supplies.
Or you could join the Leka ‘n Nice Relay Challenge, also on Saturday, at Independence Stadium. Participating teams of three will take on a 21km cycling trail, a 10km run and a 5km walk. Entry fees are N$300 and prizes are N$5 000 for first place, N$3 000 for second and N$2 000 for third. Other perks for joining include a goodie bag with a cap, T-shirt, and bib, and a free wrap or burger after the race. Get ready for an action-packed day of fitness, teamwork, and flavour.
On 31 January, Zo Didi is hosting ‘Vision & Flow’, a guided yoga session for you to slow down, connect inward, and create a board that reflects your hopes, desires, and visions for the season ahead. Taking place at the Yoga Shala in Windhoek between 14h00 and 17h00 for N$500 per person.
Also on 31 January, Turquoise Media and Events is hosting ‘Come Make A Friend, A Business Partner, A Client’ at 17 Jan Jonker street, Klein Windhoek. The networking event will allow you to bring your story to the table and allow it to turn heads, open doors and build more than just a following from 18h00 for N$20.
Next week
Next Friday there’s an oil and gas talk at Katutura for residents, youth, entrepreneurs and professionals looking to learn how this growing industry could impact jobs, skills development, local businesses and community growth. The session, hosted by Maggie Ketji and with a keynote address by Josef Kadila, will run between 09h00 and 13h00 at a yet-to-be-announced venue.
Chef Lize van der Merwe is hosting a small dumpling workshop on Saturday, 7 February, for N$950. It will run from 10h00 to 15h00. Lovers of small moments, handmade food, and beautiful experiences can enjoy an evening of folding, filling and creating something special. Wine and takeaways included.
The National Theatre of Namibia’s Stage Actors Training Lab 2026 is back from 7 February in the Rehearsal Room. Aspiring and current actors can join weekly for N$50 per session to learn both performance and professional development. Training areas include voice and speech (breath control, articulation, vocal range, and clarity), acting technique and text analysis, classical and contemporary performance techniques, character development, and scene work. Classes run from 10h00 to 15h00.

Watch Francis Nyathi’s play ‘God of Women’, which will air every Tuesday and Friday on One Africa’s ‘Learn On One’ programme from 16h30. It is perfect for Grade 9 pupils and anyone interested in Namibian storytelling.
Drop in on quiz night and flex your cerebral cortex at Piccolo Cafe and Lounge every Tuesday from 18h30. Entry is N$30 per person for groups of maximum six.
On Wednesdays you can also grab two ice cold beers from the tap for the price of one at Vinyls Music and Arts Cafe.
The Speakeasy in Liliencron Street is hosting a ladies’ night every Wednesday with 50% off of all cocktails and meal options available.
