Epembe The Most Underdeveloped

Epembe The Most Underdeveloped

ALLOW me a space in your newspaper to express my long kept disappointment regarding the Epembe constituency in Ohangwena region.

This constituency is abandoned because there is no development taking place there since independence. We don’t have any form of network for communication, nor gravel roads, neither a clinic nearby. One has to travel more than 15km to get a clinic and it is often by foot. This is both unacceptable and inhuman. There was a proposal to build a clinic at Onambaladi in 1997, if I can remember the year correctly, but I don’t know why up to now, that clinic has not been built. There was also a proposal to build a gravel road from Oshikunde through Onambaladi to Onkumbula to connect the schools and clinics and people in that area to the main roads but up to now, no development has taken place. My question is: What is the councillor of Epembe constituency doing in his office? I know there is a development budget every year to develop the previously disadvantaged areas. Does he take the problems of his constituency to the relevant offices so that the constituency can be developed? As a matter of emergency, there is a need for a [mobile phone] network aerial at either Onambaladi, Epumbalondjaba or Owalye-inda to cater for the people in those and nearby villages. To be honest, we are suffering a lot. Even if there happened to be an accident there, there is no way one can call the police or ambulance and yet the injured person has to travel by foot more than 15km to reach the nearest road and yet you call this independence? No, we are not at all tasting the fruits of freedom.Johannes Nakwafila (councillor of Epembe constituency) and Usko Nghaamwa (the Governor of Ohangwena region) you know much better than me about the situation in this constituency. Are you ignoring it and its people or why are you not initiating development there? For the network, we need it before the end of this year. For the gravel road and clinics, we cannot be patient for the next two years. Please act now! Serious servants of the nation are serving people at their constituencies, the way they are supposed to.Please, councillor, you are there to be the eyes of the people in the constituency you are heading, do your work.ON NdapaEpembe constituency
