The Central Schools Soccer Association Finals league came to a close on Friday last week, with the final matches contested at St Paul’s College and Windhoek High School respectively.
Eldorado Secondary School played a thrilling encounter against Cosmos High School. With Eldorado leading 3 – 0 at halftime, but the perseverance and hard work of Cosmos High School lead to them scoring two goals before the referee blew the final whistle. Which ended in a 3 – 2 in favour of Eldorado.
“This is a great achievement for our team and school because for the past year we did not win anything but we managed to scope this win. The competition was hard but we managed to pull through. We thank God for our talent and we will make sure to defend our position in the games to come,” said Gregory Oaeb one of the boys from Eldorado Secondary School.
In the Girls final, Delta Secondary school took on Windhoek High school. The game was tightly contested and in the end both teams had to be separated by a penalty shootout, which Windhoek High school won by 3 penalties to 2.
The under –15 and under – 17 boys finals were both hosted at Windhoek High school. The under 15 final was contested between High technical School and Windhoek High school. Both teams came into this encounter with 1 loss for the season so it promised to be a humdinger. This was not entirely the case as Windhoek High school’s boys proved to be the better of the two teams running out 6 – 0 winners, which was an excellent result as they claimed both the Girls and under 15 trophy for the 2013 season. In the under – 17 final St George’s Diocesan school was up against Jan Mohr Secondary.
The game could have went to any of the schools, as both had opportunities in each half, but eventually Jan Mohr sealed the victory scoring 2 goals before the match ended.
