Namibia and Egypt are seeking to collaborate in green hydrogen, renewable energy and other sectors after a visit from Egypt ambassador to Namibia Ramia Shawky to prime minister Elijah Ngurare.
A statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister says other areas the countries want to collaborate in are agriculture and agro-processing, infrastructure development, the medical and pharmaceutical sector, education and capacity building, trade facilitation, and value addition.
Shawky says Egypt’s commitment to deepen collaboration with Namibia, builds on the longstanding partnership between the two nations that dates back to Egypt’s support for Namibia’s liberation struggle in the 1960s and the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1990.
The engagement was attended by senior government officials, including deputy ministers responsible for international relations, trade, and education, as well as ministers overseeing justice, labour relations, and agriculture, fisheries, water, and land reform.
