Namibian musician DJ Siya has teamed up with the Malawian music sensation Driemo to produce a romantic track titled ‘Duwa’, which will be released on Sunday.
One of the artist’s energetic releases is the song ‘Bov’o’, which is well known throughout Namibia.
DJ Siya says the collaboration with Driemo did not involve any travelling to Malawi; he simply needed to make the right connections.
“I just contacted him via Mr Eddo, who is his manager in Lusaka, Zambia,” he says.
“I’ve been making more upbeat songs lately, but then again, I thought of trying something that would be mellow. Working with Driemo gave me that touch,” he says.
‘Duwa’ is a romantic story about how, after many years, one manages to find their special person.
“This song talks about finding love in the end – finding your person,” DJ Siya says.
The song’s production involves a mix of Namibian and Malawian culture.
“It was an amazing experience for me, because we exchanged ideas and learned from each other. Malawi is culturally diverse, and this song is proof of that,” DJ Siya says.
Fans should expect something new, he says.
“This is going to be a unique song, and I believe people will like it.”
He promises fans with the most views of his visuals on social media will earn some rewards.
Driemo says he is satisfied with the project.
“Music unites us beyond our borders, and creating this track was an exciting process. This is a song about genuine love, which everyone can relate to.”
With ‘Duwa’, DJ Siya says he has taken a new step on his musical journey.
