DJ Melza’s ‘Birthday Bash’ promises to rock

CELEBRATING not only her upcoming birthday but also all the doors that have opened for her, Melissa Snyders says she has received nothing but positivity from fans since embarking on her DJing career.

“Never would I have imagined the impact DJ Melza would have on other people, especially women. I had a woman come up to me once saying ‘you’re not only doing this for yourself, but for all of us women’,” she says.

DJ Melza is increasingly being booked for more events and private functions, with the recent ‘Old Skool Rewind’ event she was part of at the Windhoek Country Club being without a doubt the highlight of her DJ career so far, she says.

“It was the biggest crowd I have ever performed for, the vibe and energy were amazing!”

To add to that, DJ Melza also recently DJed at a street bash to celebrate Miss Namibia 2022 Cassia Sharpley’s national title win.

“That was really special. The community of Khomasdal planned a small ‘welcoming celebration’ for the newly crowned Sharpley, and the organisers approached me to be part of it. Everyone in the community really did their part. This was also my way of giving back to the community for all their support,” she says.

As for what fans can expect from the upcoming ‘Birthday Bash’ on 24 September at XS Lounge and Restaurant, DJ Melza says there will be a great line-up of DJs like DJ Waxa, Lantis_Da_DJ, MC Cool B and herself.

“For me, this is something really personal. I’ve been contemplating this for a while and I’ve turned my thoughts into reality.

“I’ve put my heart and soul into this from the start of planning. I trust God that my first event will be one of many successful events for DJ Melza,” she says.

“There will also be a special performance by the very talented Sharon van Rooi, as well as the DeJaVu band featuring Litisha,” she says.

Offering some words of wisdom for other mothers and women keen on becoming involved in DJing, DJ Melza says “if you really want to do it, then go for it!

“Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. There are no age restrictions on accomplishments.”

The event starts at 14h00, and tickets are available for N$150 each. For more information, contact 081 772 8868 or 081 287 1290.
