Decoders Got It Down

These days, consumers have been exposed to technology of all kinds, prompting companies to sell products which people no longer ‘want’, but ‘need’. And one marketing strategy is to phase out the old and phase in the new.

One such company is MultiChoice, who offers a range of decoders every now and then. Remember the pre-PVR days when rewinding a show on live television seemed impossible and once you missed a reminder for your favourite series, the whole day would just end up sour?

Now there are several decoders in store which provide entertainment options you didn’t even know you needed in your life.

How incredible is it to have your decoder act as a large hard drive, storing up those Telemundo episodes you missed out on or the movie you were dying to watch but couldn’t because your friends insisted you go out and paint the town red?

Even HD used to be a luxury many of us could not afford. Now, it’s reachable. High quality series, high quality movies, high quality sports, high quality everything! And being exposed to this type of television viewing, especially in this day and age is incredible.

Doesn’t the possibility of over a hundred channels at your disposal make you want to jump for joy? From the latest music videos from countries hundreds of kilometres away screening in your house, to local documentaries right at your finger tips, technology has advanced to a stage where anything is possible.

Although it comes at a price, packages have made it ideal for those who don’t want to pay for the full bouquet to enjoy a selection of channels which wouldn’t make it seem like they are ‘missing out’.

Unfortunately, decoders require an upgrade now and then, which means that servicing old products will no longer be available. As previous reported, we stated that users could exchange outdated decoders for new ones at MultiChoice offices, but this is not the case. This is only applicable in South Africa.

If you are a television junkie, chances are you will need a decoder. But if you prefer settling down in an environment that doesn’t require you to sit around the couch all day, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
