BY the time I submit this column, it will be exactly one day, six hours and 42 minutes until you touch down.
By the time this goes to print, I wouldn’t have met you yet. You were probably getting ready to come to a small city in a small southern African country called Namibia and since we have been recently identified as the fifth most beautiful country in the world, allow me to welcome you to the beautiful diamond in the rough of Africa.
I have waited for you since 2012 and believe it or not, I have been praying for you to come to Namibia too. When they first announced that you are coming to perform here, I could not believe it. Although I have 100% faith in the organisers and in the sponsors, you performing in Namibia was just one of those dreams that was too good to be true, and yet here you are.
You have an amazingly big following here in Namibia and come tomorrow, the Independence Stadium will be packed with thousands of ‘Trey’s Angels’ who have also been counting down the days until you sing that first note.
Now Trey, or my Tremaine Aldon Neverson as I like to call you, I just have a few humble requests for tomorrow.
1. I know you will be changing into two, three or four different outfits for the 60 to 90 minutes you will be on stage, but can one of those looks please be you in a white t-shirt? Thank you.
2. . You might have heard this a million times, but you have one of the most heartwarming smiles I have ever seen in my entire 25 years of living.
3. . I really have no concrete reason why I want you to do this, but I just want to hear you say it. Thank you.
4. . It does not even have to be the entire song, even if it just the chorus Trey, I just want you to sing ‘Simply Amazing’ to me.
5.. This might take a bit of practice, but my names are Ndapewoshali or Blomi. I just need you to say it to me twice. I need you to say it a second time because hearing it only once would feel unreal so I’ll have to hear it a second time.
6. . Please say you will come back for another concert, even if it is five years from now. I love you now, I will love you then and until the day you decide to put the mic down.
You might not get to read this, I am hoping your PA or someone on your team will read it to you, but even if you do not meet the requests you are still my Day One and I will still be your number one angel.
Also, thank you for coming and making my dreams of standing in the crowd and singing along to ‘Heart Attack’ with you come true.
With love, your number one angel
