Dâure Daman committee rejects petition against Erongo governor /Goagoses

A Dâure Daman community committee has distanced itself from a petition calling for the removal of Erongo governor Natalia /Goagoses, citing it has not been consulted on the matter.

This comes after a community group petitioned against the governor’s conduct regarding the Dâure Daman Traditional Authority’s affairs.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the committee’s vice chairperson, Cornelia Atjiwara, says neither she nor the committee participated in the drafting, endorsement or submission of the petition.

She says no mandate was given to any individual or group to act on behalf of the committee regarding the matter.

“The views and demands contained in the petition do not represent the position of the concerned Dâure Daman community committee or the broader Dâure Daman community,” Atjiwara says.

She says while differing views may exist on issues affecting the Dâure Daman community, including concerns related to individuals claiming leadership positions within the Dâure Daman Traditional Authority, such differences should not be interpreted as support for calls to remove the governor.

Atjiwara further expresses appreciation for /Goagoses’ leadership and service to the Erongo region, describing her as a dedicated leader committed to improving the well-being of communities.

The statement comes amid growing debate over the petition and issues surrounding leadership claims within the Dâure Daman Traditional Authority.
