Cubbies Kiddies Boutique has collaborated with Dinapama Manufacturing Supplies and launched a new kiddies hat collection catering for kids between the ages of one and six years.
The Namibia-based online kids boutique offers a variety of clothes for tots and kids from the ages of six months to six years.
The boutique’s business development director Ndapandula Nghiwanwa says they decided on a hat collection because they have many benefits such as sun protection, adventurous and playful.
“We live in a country where the sun is quite harsh during all the seasons and naturally since children are our core passion, we have decided to protect the little ones. We want to be an inclusive brand that each parent can relate to and that each child can wear. Floppies or bucket hats have a long-standing history of being cool. Another reason is we are dedicated to always improving the quality of life of our children and parents and it is our pleasure to introduce new items that will spark excitement and love for the brand,” she says.
Nghiwanwa says the hats are a significant stepping stone in local manufacturing for kids’ goods. The brand teamed up with Dinapama Manufacturing Supplies by experimenting with different patterns and an eco-friendly material, polycotton, that is harmless to kids.
“The hat is reversible and an easy accessory for kids. Polyester and cotton combine to make a hybrid fabric that is tough, durable, breathable, soft and affordable,” Nghiwanwa says.
She says they opted for a unisex feel to move away from dictating fashion values to kids. She says before they launched the hats they had great input from kids on the chequered pattern.
“We value kids’ voices in the sourcing of our goods, as they are ultimately the end-users. Their voice matters in the colours and styles of the goods. We consulted some children on their favoruite patterns and tried to incorporate this when choosing the fabric at Dinapama Manufacturing Supplies. We used yellow and blue chequered patterns on the inside and a natural khaki colour on the outside since the hats are reversible. Khaki is a great color as it does not easily get dirty, is neutral and can fit with any outfit. Naturally, most small girls opt for the yellow pattern while the boys love the blue-patterned hats,” Nghiwanwa says.
Nghiwanwa says the brand is planning to launch their lactation cookies, which again is a collaboration with a local cookie manufacturer.
“There are so many untold stories on breastfeeding, and we aim to equip our Cubbie moms with nutrients to help with the breastfeeding journey. We are excited to include the whole family in the Cubbies story. We are also busy preparing the ground for another project, which is in line with kids education,” Nghiwanwa says.
The hats cost N$200 each on any usual day, but are marked down every Friday to N$150.
