The Windhoek High Court has ordered the Namibia Defence Force (NDF) to reinstate 19-year-old Joel Jacob into its May intake recruitment programme after he was initially excluded from the list.
The judgement was passed on Thursday in the High Court by judge Gerson Narib.
The Namibian on Wednesday reported that Jacob sued the NDF for leaving him off the recruitment list for its May intake.
“I feel happy. I also informed my parents and they told me that I must go to the NDF. They are happy,” Jacob says.
The urgent application was supported by sworn affidavits and backed by individuals who believe Jacob’s case could expose broader injustices in the NDF’s recruitment process.
The Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs on Monday denied any wrongdoing.
