The City of Windhoek needs about N$17.5 million to fix potholes that were caused during the rainy season earlier in the year.
However, with the year-end rainy season now here, the city says it is not able to fix the roads and, therefore, more damage is expected.
Speaking at the Road Fund Administration’s business plan consultation yesterday, the acting strategic executive at the City of Windhoek, Rowan Adams, said the city needs N$353 million to repair all the damage – not just potholes.
“There are over 650 streets with potholes and deformities, and currently there is already a backlog in terms of rehabilitating and maintaining roads,” he said.
Adam said road damage is inevitable due to ageing, but the materials used are of good quality.
